One of the world's leading luxury products groups encompassing such prestigious brands as Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, Piaget, Vacheron Constantin, Jaeger-LeCoultre, IWC, Dunhill, and Montblanc.
Describing luxury goods to affluent clients in a brand new market was especially challenging because of the total absence of any reference material in the target language or single standards and requirements documents. Richemont required a solution that would centralize all requirements for translated texts as well as combine all developed terms and phrases in a unified, searchable database for use in future translations.
We performed frequency analysis of parallel texts to identify terms and phrases specific to each Richemont brand, as well as terms occurring most frequently in the texts submitted for translation. Next, we compiled a single glossary of all key terms, including specialized examples for each term in a specific context, such as brand press releases etc. Finally, the glossary was revised and approved by Richemont specialists. It has made a significant contribution to Richemont’s target market expansion.
